CROSS COUNTRY

 

at South Knox Invite: In the field of 18 complete teams, the North Knox girls came away with an 11th-place finish on Saturday.

 

Freshman Eva Claycomb paced the Lady Warriors with a Top-25 finish, placing 21st with a time of 22 minutes, 27 seconds.

 

Pike Central senior Xavery Wiseman captured the win with a time of 19:16.1 which was 25 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Esther Crane of Eastern Greene.

 

Shakamak’s Elayni Stone finished 34th in the field of 164 runners. Stone passed four runners over the final 50 meters to the finish line to post a time of 23:29.

 

North Knox senior Rorri Bottum (23:50) and freshman Emma Telligman (23:58.6) also placed in the Top 50, finishing 43rd and 45th, respectively.

 

Evansville Mater Dei won by 24 points over Castle to capture the team title while Shakamak placed 17th.

 

In the boys meet, Shakamak’s Aiden Barber was the top local finisher. The sophomore placed 30th in the field of 241 runners. Barber’s time of 18:31.3 was just four seconds off his career-best time.

 

Avon sophomore Quinn Murray won the boys race with a time of 17:08.6. The Orioles ran away with the team title — 37 points ahead of Evansville Memorial. Avon — who had 40 runners compete in the race — had four runners in the Top 10 and its No. 5 runner placed 11th.

 

Shakamak senior Rayden Rehmel placed 38th with a time of 18:49.2 while freshman Leo Miller just missed out on a Top-50 finish, placing 51st with a time of 19:11.

 

Shakamak placed 11th in the field of 21 complete teams. Gibson Southern slipped past the Lakers by five points for 10th, while conference rivals Eastern Greene (8th) and Clay City (9th) finished just ahead by nine points. 

 

North Knox placed 19th and was led by Brody Page. The junior covered the 3.1-mile arduous course in a time of 21:01 which was good for 106th.

at Greencastle Invite: The Sullivan girls team placed second in the field of seven complete teams. The Lady Arrows finished just 13 points shy of team champion Owen Valley.

 

Lady Arrow freshman Leily Kern continued her strong rookie season, placing seventh overall with a time of 23:26.2.

 

Greencastle’s Colleen Bossnack was the individual champion with a time of 21:28.

 

Lady Arrows sophomore Emmarie Earley and senior Gaige Goodman came up with Top-20 finishes, placing 18th and 19th overall in the field of 52 runners. Earley crossed the finish line in a time of 25:05.9 which was 40 seconds ahead of her senior teammate.

 

Freshman Jillian Page returned to the Arrows lineup after taking a fall in the previous meet. Page posted a time of 26:05 and just missed out on a Top-20 finish by one spot.

 

Kate Alsman rounded out the Arrows’ scoring with a 23rd-place effort in a time of 26:38.6.

 

 

 

FOOTBALL

 

DUGGER UNION 38, Faith Christian 0: The Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season with Saturday’s romp on Homecoming.

 

The game was called after three quarters after Faith Christian had too many players lost due to injury.

 

Devin Pavey rushed for a pair of scores and tossed another touchdown in the win.

 

Lincoln Frazee hauled in a pass from Pavey for a score while Jerry Pearison tossed a score to Elijah Eads.

 

Tayte Stone ran in a trio of 2-point conversions while Wes Smith completed one 2-point conversion to round out the Bulldogs’ scoring.

 

Jayden Bowerstock recovered a fumble for the Dugger defense.

 

 

Cascade 42, Sullivan 6: The visitors jumped out to a 28-0 lead at the break and never looked back.

 

The loss was the fourth straight setback for the Arrows after a season-opening win at North Knox.

 

No other information was reported.

 

 

 

VOLLEYBALL

 

Shakamak picked up a pair of wins against one defeat at the Wood Memorial Invite. The Lakers picked up a 3-set win over Class 3A Princeton Community and wrapped up the tournament with a sweep over Evansville Bosse.

 

The Lakers fell to the host Trojans in the second match of the day.

 

Against the Tigers, the Lakers dropped the first set 25-21 before rallying for a 25-23, 15-13 win in the final two sets.

 

After falling to the Trojans — 25-22, 25-21 — the Lakers cruised past the Bulldogs 25-13, 25-7.

 

With the two wins, Shakamak improved to 13-5 on the season.

 

Shakamak remains on the road this week with a pair of non-conference matchups at Lighthouse Christian and West Vigo.

 

 

 

BOYS SOCCER

 

Sullivan wrapped up a busy week with a 3-3 tie against Bloomfield on Thursday before a 7-3 loss against Greencastle on Saturday.

 

Sam Fathauer and Cash Murduck accounted for all of the scoring in both matches for the Arrows.

 

Fathauer found the back of the net twice in both matches while Murdock scored once in both games.

 

Fathauer now has 15 goals and seven assists on the year.

 

The Lady Arrows also tied with Bloomfield, 3-3, before dropping a 7-0 contest to the Tiger Cubs on Saturday.

 

The Sullivan boys team heads into the final week of the regular season with a record of 3-8-2, while the Lady Arrows are 1-11-1.
