SULLIVAN 80, Bloomfield 13: After opening the season with a pair of close road victories, the Lady Arrows cruised to a lopsided win in their home opener Tuesday night.
Sullivan improved to 3-0 on the season with the win.
The Lady Arrows wasted no time in taking charge Tuesday night. The hosts jumped out to a 29-8 advantage after the first eight minutes of play and never looked back.
Leading the way in the early onslaught was senior Jacie Wilson and junior Ally McKinney. Wilson netted 12 of her 22 points in the first frame, while McKinney added nine in the first.
While the Arrows’ offense never missed the beat, the defense followed suit. Sullivan held the Lady Cards to just five points over the final 24 minutes of play.
McKinney finished with a game-high 25 points while pulling down 13 rebounds. Both totals marked new career highs.
The soft-spoken junior deferred the credit to her teammates.
“I think we all played really well,” McKinney said. “Coach wanted us to look early to Jacie so getting a couple of assists early really helped get me in a groove. And once Bloomfield started to tighten down on Jacie it really opened up things for all of us guards.”
A total of nine different Lady Arrows scored at least two points in the blowout.
Freshman Rigley Goodman netted her third double-digit game of the season, adding 14 points in the win. The dynamic guard knocked down a trio of 3-pointers.
Katherine Sarver added six points while Haylee Slaughter (3) and Kinley Mason (2) netted their first points of the season.
Sullivan (3-0) returns to the court Saturday, playing host to Owen Valley in their Western Indiana Conference opener.
NORTH CENTRAL 58, North Daviess 31: The Class 1A No. 5 ranked Ladybirds broke open a close contest with a second-half offensive explosion for the second straight game.
Leading 20-16 at the break, North Central stretched its lead to 14 points by outscoring the visiting Cougars 21-11 in the third. The Ladybirds put the game away with a 17-4 advantage over the final eight minutes of play.
With the win, North Central improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference play.
For the fourth straight game, senior Jalyn Davidson reached the 20-point plateau. Davidson netted a game-high 22 points, including seven in both the third and fourth frames. The senior also dished out six assists and came up with three steals in the win.
Hannah Stepp and Sam Secrest also reached double digits by scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. Secrest added eight boards.
Shelby Seay finished one point shy of a double double, with 10 rebounds. The senior stuffed the statsheet by adding six assists and a game-high five steals.
Maycie Dreiman rounded out the scoring with six points in addition to four rebounds and a pair of steals.
The Ladybirds went 12 of 18 from the charity stripe in the win while North Daviess connected on just 1 of 9 freebies.
The two teams were tied at 10 apiece after the first eight minutes of play.
North Central (4-0, 1-0) travels to Greencastle for a non-conference game on Monday.
