Linton-Stockton 224, Sullivan 234, North Central 257: The Arrows could not continue its recent success of shooting in the low 200’s during Monday’s triangular at the Elks.
Lori Alumbaugh paced the Arrows with a round of 55, two strokes better than freshman Layla Drake. Senior Layla Ellis and freshman Kennedy Boles rounded out the scoring for Sullivan with scores of 60 and 62, respectively.
Harlena Kean led the Ladybirds with a round of 60 and Lauren Waterman was just three strokes behind.
Samantha Nickless and Brynley Grabbe rounded out the scoring for the first-year golfers with rounds of 67.
NORTH KNOX 194, Northeast Dubois 212, Vincennes Lincoln 218: Playing on their home course at High Pointe, the Lady Warriors shot a season-low score in picking up the triangular win on Tuesday.
Brooklyn Sturgeon continued her impressive season, earning medalist honors for the eighth time on the season. The senior also tied her best round of the year, shooting a 39. Sturgeon’s score was nine strokes ahead of the second-place finisher which was sophomore teammate Abby Noland.
Callie Meadows carded a 51, with a pair of pars, while Brylie Earley rounded out the scoring with a 56.
On her birthday, Natalee Rickard shot a career-best round of 63.
“Natalee was dialed in tonight,” Warriors’ coach Katie Kixmiller said of her No. 5 golfer. “She had a bunker shot on No. 6 where she hit it to within 10-12 feet of the cup and sank the putt. Her whole round she was locked in and her score is starting to come down because of it.”
North Knox traveled to Bedford on Wednesday for a match against Eastern Greene at Stone Crest.
BOYS TENNIS
SULLIVAN 4, Owen Valley 1: After one of, if not the biggest wins in program history on Monday, the Arrows did not have a let down 24 hours later. The Arrows improved to 14-2 overall and remained a perfect 6-0 in Western Indiana Conference play with Tuesday road win.
The only spot Sullivan dropped in the match came at No. 1 singles where Jaxon Zollman filled in for top player Levi Chickadance.
Zollman held his own against the Patriots’ best player in a 6-4, 6-4 loss.
Chickadaunce was battling an illness prior to Monday’s big win over Terre Haute South and was held out of Tuesday’s match.
“Jaxon made their No. 1 player work for every point tonight,” Arrows’ coach Wes Kirk said. “He played great against a senior who is 7-1 on the season.”
Hunter Pinkston got back on track with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, while Andrew Jackson bounced back from a 6-2 loss in the first set to win the second by the same score and won 10-5 in a third-set tie breaker.
On the doubles court, the Arrows did not have much trouble.
Jayden Scott and Carter Mischler improved to 14-0 on the year with a 6-0, 6-1 win while Spencer Hanks and Sam Couch did not drop a game in their straight-set win.
“Our doubles were very dominant in both of their matches,” the Arrows’s veteran coach said.
Sullivan traveled to Vincennes Lincoln Wednesday night.
