West Vigo 51, Sullivan 48: The visiting Vikings spoiled homecoming for the Arrows Friday night. West Vigo put on a 3-point shooting clinic in the first half, connecting on 11 shots from distance in building a double-digit lead.

Cooper Bock and Paul Ridway did their best to keep the Arrows in the game as the pair of six-footers combined for 36 points in the loss.

Bock tallied 20 points.

Despite trailing from the opening tip, the Arrows had a chance to send the game into overtime but an off-balanced three at the buzzer was off the mark.

Sullivan dropped a third-straight game 24 hours later with a 48-39 setback against Vincennes Lincoln.

NORTH KNOX 39, Shoals 35: Camden McCory scored four points in one possession to lead the host Warriors to a win Friday night.

The North Knox junior sliced his way to the hoop with just under 23 seconds left on the clock, pulling the Warriors even at 35. McCory was fouled on the play, but the go-ahead free-throw was off the mark. Cole Kerns tipped the missed attempt which landed in the hands of McCory. The Warrior then quickly released a jumper from the right elbow for the go-ahead bucket.

On the game-tying drive to the hoop, McCory stated he just saw an opportunity to help his team.

“I just saw an opening to the basket and I took it,” the junior guard said. “I missed the free throw but Cole did a good job of keeping it alive with the tip, it came back to me and I did not want to miss again.”

After the JugRox was unable to tie the game, Kyson Parker accounted for the final two points on a pair of free throws with less than a second on the clock.

Kerns netted 11 points in the win, while McCory added 10 points.

Parker finished with seven points while Will Trabant came off the Warriors’ bench with six points and six rebounds.

With the win, North Knox improved to 4-8 on the season and 2-2 in Blue Chip Conference play.

SHAKAMAK 51, North Daviess 49: After a combined 49 points in the first period, the two Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference rivals settled into a defensive battle over the final 24 minutes of play Friday night.

Shakamak won the third period, 14-9 which proved to be the difference in picking up its first win over the Cougars in six years.

Jaden Johnson sparked a pivotal 6-0 run late in the fourth quarter to help fuel the win. Johnson knocked down a shot for a 47-46 lead before Madden Husband and freshman Leo Miller both sank a pair of free throws for a 51-46 lead.

Johnson led the way with 16 points, while Linden Jenkins (12), Miller (10) and Husband (10) combined for 32 points.

Case Terrell rounded out the scoring with three points in the win.

On Saturday, Husband led five Lakers in double figures with 17 points in a 70-54 win over Brown County. Husband also pulled down nine rebounds for the Lakers.

The Lakers led 20-5 after the first eight minutes of play and carried a 28-16 lead into the break before the Falcons found their footing in the second half.

Jordyn Smith was a big reason for the come-from-behind win. The Bulldog senior saved her best for last with 16 of her game-high 26 points in the final period. Smith was also clutch at the free-throw line, connecting on 7 of 11 freebies in the stanza.
